Lightbringer Series

Phew……

Suuuuuper unique magical system based on the color spectrum reflected in the prism. Each person who has magical abilities (which isn’t everyone) is “sorted” by what types of colors they use. So, for example, a person who “drafts” power from the yellow spectrum of light has slightly different wielding capabilities than a person who “drafts” power from the green spectrum of light. I know I’m not explaining it well, but it’s complicated.

Anywhoo, some can draft one color, and there are some that can draft two or more colors, and they are more powerful. With magical power comes political power, and you know, with political power struggles come bad people doing very bad things!

The character building is gorgeous, and there are some intense twists and turns along the way that I literally gasped at.

My partner suggested this to me after he read the series (he’s been carting the books around for ages) and I listened to it on audio. It actually worked out perfectly because I was JUST starting the last book as we started a 3 day cross country drive, and it was so fun getting to listen to the last book together! Nerd love is forever.
