The Atlas Series

Crushed this whole series in a few weeks.

Was absolutely furious when the first book ended and shouted, “that’s it?? I need more!!” from my cozy spot in bed . The cat did not like it. My partner popped his head in, “it’s a trilogy, why you mad?” Then he picked up book 2 from the book store otw home from work for me like the best man in the world :)

Olivie Blake’s writing style is gorgeous. Her use of imagery, language, and structure is incredibly powerful. Not to mention the world-building in this book is very very cool. It’s set in “current day,” but magic is real. Only a select few in society can wield it, and have access to the power it brings. There are several different types of magic (think physical vs psychic).

Her character building is also incredible. They each have intricate, complicated, and surprising character arcs. I certainly felt differently about many of them by the end than I did in the beginning. So that’s a real emotional doozy.
